Stan has sung and acted with choirs and local theatre groups for many years and more recently with the Norwood Green Singers in major choral works, along with solo roles such as the Judge in Gilbert & Sullivan’s; Trial by Jury, the Earl of Essex in Merrie England and recently as Sir Joseph Porter in HMS Pinafore. Stan also performs with Isleworth Baroque Opera, having undertaken solos roles in Purcell’s Indian Queen (2008), William Boyce, Secular Masque (2009), Peachum in John Gaye’s, Beggars Opera and Niegus in West London Operas 2011 performance of the Merry Widow, where he was nicknamed “Churchill” by members of the cast. Stan very much enjoys cameo and character roles, he also performs Flanders & Swann and other routines with his son George. He has been a volunteer signalman on the Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line) for many years. It was with great pride that as ‘Winston’ he took part in Vera Lynn’s 100th birthday celebrations earlier this year.
